2008 Annual Conference

The 2008 Annual Conference and Training Event will take place in St. Helens, Lancashire on Tuesday 5th, Wednesday 6th & Thursday 7th of August. Book you place now by downloading the

Staffordshire Police Skid Pan - Available as required

 

 

Charges for this event are £40 per half-hour session with two trainees in the car. This training is available on an as and when basis. Please contact the Training Officer for further details. The Guild Webmaster who can be seen going sideways in the red car says it is definitely worth the money!

 

 

  Previous Training Events

Guild Conference 2007, Loughborough

The 2007 conference was held at Loughborough Town Hall. There was a social evening on the Monday night when members visited the Carillon Tower War Memorial Museum and the neighbouring Charnwood Museum. On Tuesday morning the new Prime Warden and Renter Prime Warden were installed before guest speaker Tony Brett-Young addressed the conference about "The Role of the Civic Mayor in the 21st Century" After a buffet lunch there was a workshop on Presentation Skills and a question & Answer session. A Civic Reception later took place before the Mayor and Mayoress joined members and other guests at the Annual Guild Dinner. On Wednesday morning the Guild Training Officer lead a workshop on Security Issues and Dealing with Difficult Scenarios and Her Majesty's Lord Lieutenant for Leicestershire addressed the conference about her role. The Annual General Meeting of the Guild took place after lunch.

Stevenage Town Hall, Hertfordshire 2007

This event included training sessions in:

  • Understanding how to organise a civic function

  • Civic Toastmastering

  • Defensive & anti-terrorism chauffeuring awareness

  • Vehicle care

Hendon Police College Skid Pan 2007

This event involved groups of three undergoing training on the skid pan, followed by a session on explosives awareness and then a demo-drive into London in a police vehicle travelling under blue lights.
